We broke up a good while ago but have managed no maintain some sort of a relationship slash friendship. We were together for almost a decade and broke up because of various reasons, but one major one was that I wanted to get married and have a family but he’d kinda dangle it in front of me but absolutely refused to talk about it. He’d do this weird thing when friends or family asked about marriage and kids, he’d tell them enthusiastically that it’s about to happen very soon, yet didn’t talk about it with me. He also knew I dreamt of having a family and it was something we talked a lot, and he knows I’ve since gotten my fertility tested and it’s basically game over for me.

I just get this feeling that he makes a point to bring up when he’s friends are about to propose or are having weddings. And he asks me stuff like hey, how many of your friends are married again? He also sends me pics of himself with his friends kids and makes comments like ”this kiddo looks just like you!”

Am I insane to think that in the context of things, he is actually yielding joy from saying all those things? It just feels so intentional and cruel knowing our history and the context of things. I’ve tried calling him out and he again, shuts down completely, literally tells me that he is not talking to me and goes quiet so there is no explanation or accountability or even acknowledging that maybe those comments hurt.

Am I crazy for thinking my ex likes to torture me?
