Carbon steel makes this wheelchair heavier—but also reassuringly stable
I help a company test and film mobility products. I’m not a wheelchair user, and this post is based only on my experience operating the chair during product testing.
One thing that stood out immediately was the carbon-steel frame. It gives the wheelchair a solid, planted feeling when moving across pavement gaps, grass edges, and other small obstacles.
Carbon steel adds weight compared with lighter frame materials, so this may not be the right choice for someone who frequently lifts a wheelchair into a car. The trade-off is a sturdy structure and a reassuring sense of stability during use.
The video shows one short outdoor test rather than a long-term durability study, but the construction feels designed for regular, practical use.
For wheelchair users, which matters more in daily life: a lighter frame or a heavier, more stable build?
