Absence due to vacation

I am considering taking a 10 day vacation in June to Alaska, which would mean my kindergartner would need to miss the last two weeks of school. My husband is vehemently against this idea, but costs to go Alaska become prohibitive if we wait until school is out. My sister thinks kindergarten is likely the only period during his academic life where missing the last two weeks of school likely won't impact much. I am hoping to get some perspectives from teachers on positives and negatives of an extended absence due to vacation. Thanks!
