Marketing role within big law firm
Hello everyone! I’m hoping my question can garner some insight, especially since this community is primarily made up of attorneys.
I have an upcoming interview for a Business Development & Marketing role at a BigLaw firm. A significant portion of the position involves writing proposals, RFPs, press releases, and other marketing/business development materials.
My previous role was in surgical care- very writing-and detail-oriented, so I have a strong foundation in those areas. However, I do not have direct experience in business development or marketing within the legal industry.
For those who work in BigLaw, particularly in BD/marketing, I’d really appreciate any insight into what interviewers typically look for in candidates for these types of roles. Are there specific skills, qualities, or experiences that tend to stand out?
Additionally, is it realistic to successfully pivot into BigLaw BD/marketing without having prior experience in the legal industry?
Any advice on how I can best position my transferable skills during the interview would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance!
