Friends/Associates

Questions

Why exactly is everyone against being friends with coworkers? I mean, I get the whole everyone being friendly doesn’t make you guys friends (obviously), but if you have a coworker that looks at you a lot while smiling, randomly asking how old you are, and giving you their number.. is that not a sign of wanting to be friends or at least wanting to get to know each other?

I just want to say that I also believe in God and that I’ve lost a lot of my other friends, cut them off because of me following Jesus, or because I felt convicted about them. I’ve prayed for friends (that are believers), though I’m not sure if the person at work is one as well.

Just saying, I wouldn’t mind getting to know a fellow co worker outside of work, especially considering how backstabbing “friends” can be in this generation (I’m 17 by the way). It doesn’t have to be a daily text or weekly hangout out thing, you know? Just getting to know each other. I am, however, of two people not sharing interests, but isn’t that the point of getting to know each other? Lol.
