Are large capacity external HDDs for a good price extinct?

As recently as May of this year, you could find various WD and likely other brands of external 3.5" HDD of different capacities (anywhere from 10-20TB), regularly on sale for 200-250 CAD.

I haven't seen any such deals since May. Most such drives are now regularly priced at 700 cad or higher.

That's going to be a hard pill to swallow whenever the NAS drives go bad
