Kevin Moon was not talking about Lesserafim and I don't get why people say he was.

Discussion

Lesserafim didn't feature A drag queen. The Spaghetti MV featured THREE drag artists, NANA YOUNGRONG KIM, KYAM, RINGRING. So the description is not even right. Either Kevin didn't even look at what he was criticising or he wasn't talking about Lesserafim.

Spaghetti is also not house but alternative funk. While obviously you can't escape LGBT influence in any modern US music genre, funk is not particularly LGBT-rooted like house is. So the drag artists in Spaghetti weren't there to justify the genre usage. They were there because why the fuck not. Nor was there much discussion about queer representation around Spaghetti.

The group that DID feature ONE drag queen recently and got lots of praise for queer representation is NMIXX, who collaborated with Brazillian drag artist Paulo Vittar for MEXE. You can find a lot of positive posts about it right here in Reddit. Some even used it to drag Katseye, saying this was the proper way to use Brazillian culture.

For what it's worth I think what NMIXX did with Paulo Vittar is awesome and deserves none of the cynicism. Same for Lesserafim. All of the drag artists mentioned have been doing what they do independent of kpop, and there is no reason to keep them out of kpop.

But it is clear Kevin wasn't talking about Lesserafim. Some people just REALLY want it to be about a HYBE group. Also I think some people REALLY want a fanwar between Fearnots and Nswers but thankfully it seems both fandoms are smarter than that.

(I prefer the term drag artist since it makes less assumptions about how the person involved identifies. Also I dislike monarchism.)

TLDR: Kevin Moon was not talking about Lesserafim. The description does not fit. He was more likely talking abou NMIXX but NMIXX did nothing wrong.
