Snake Bonding

Im new to having a snake and sometimes I just struggle understanding what he is doing. Im still learning how to understand his language. I just hope im not stressing him out too much and he does seem to like me. He gets a bit defensive when I take him out of his enclosure and has tried to strike me maybe 4 times out of the 2 months ive had him, he's gotten better recently though and I can see he doesn't breath as heavy when I get him out now. He's super calm when im holding him and have him out and about and I can even have other people hold him, its just his enclosure he gets a bit defensive, is this normal? He's still very young and he's a jungle python from the wild (dont worry it's a long story but I legally have him). I just worry because I hear everyone say they've never been bit and sometimes I feel like im doing something wrong.
