Laid off after negotiating my salary — now upskilling into Logistics VA
I got laid off this past April, right after negotiating my salary. Instead of dwelling on it, I've been upskilling into the Logistics VA niche, since it builds directly on my last role.
At my previous job with a California-based federal contractor (office supplies, janitorial supplies, and COVID kits, sold through account managers and competitive bidding), I handled procurement end-to-end:
- Communicated with partner suppliers on email and online orders
- Verified quantities, quality, availability, and ETAs; tracked out-of-stocks and delays
- Coordinated with freight forwarders for off-island shipments to Saipan
- Main point of contact for carriers like UPS, USPS, XPO Logistics, DHL
- Processed orders through Amazon, Walmart, and other supplier platforms
- Resolved backorders, lost-in-transit shipments, wrong deliveries, defective/missing items
- Prepared weekly and end-of-month status reports
Given that background, Logistics VA work feels like a natural next step, not a cold start. If anyone's hiring, knows of an opening, or is open to referring me, I'd genuinely appreciate it and happy to share my resume. Also open to advice from anyone who's made a similar transition.
