Instagram Engagement

Hey all! I just have a question about engagement, so I deactivated my Instagram last year for about a full year and posted again in January and saw my usual steady engagement 6000 views and 300 likes (not amazing but typical of my stuff) and then deactivated for a bit until last month where I also unfollowed a few accounts I didn’t really engage with anymore (about 200 or so maybe) now I find that my posts fail to crack 2/3000 views and I’m getting half the engagement. I was just wondering if unfollowing and deactivating affected that and if so why didn’t it impact in January but does now. And also what can I do to build it back up again?
