I Deleted TikTok For Negative Reasons
I’m honestly not upset about this anymore but I just haven’t told anyone about this in full… but I had a small community on TikTok and had been posting for years. But then my mental health hit a low point and I expressed something vulnerable about how I felt, which then people turned against me and accused me of being all the bad things my abusers were and of doing what they did to me.
It was only a few people but my mental health was so low, my first thought was that there’s no way to redeem myself. If I share more, that can be twisted too. I didn’t know how to prove I wasn’t what they said I was without removing my presence entirely. So I deleted my account.
Then I overdosed and landed in the hospital.
Honestly, I kinda miss TikTok sometimes because I loved posting and the consistent followers I’d gotten to know over years of engagement and conversation with them. I have been very isolated most of my life due to social issues so TikTok was my primary social outlet for nearly 6 years. So it sucks for that to go…
But it has come with positives! I was also addicted to scrolling on TikTok and it’s been nice to have that time back (though I’ve just been on Reddit and other forums a lot more, lol). I’m hopeful that this will actually allow me to expand my horizons and maybe find new ways to express myself… like karaoke or events or crafts or journaling or photography! Idk! The options are endless!
This is kinda a ramble but just wanted to get it out somewhere… because I have kept the deletion of my TikTok secret as well as my overdose. I found the whole things embarrassing and shameful… but I do genuinely feel more positive now! Just gotta look forward!
