I really want to like this game. I really want to enjoy Call of Duty. Sadly it is impossible nowadays.

Discussion

TLDR: The game looks, feels, and sounds good (which pretty much every modern COD game does), but it’s irrelevant because there is a bunch of algorithms running in the background that make the game an inconsistent mess.

About to go to bed, but why not post a quick rant on Reddit. I’m sure it will be fine. Played the beta for the first time on Saturday. Game genuinely felt and played pretty solid. I think I played like 10 games and was kinda frying. Aim was snappy. Movement felt sharp. Teammates actually shot their guns. Was pleasantly surprised and happy.

Hopped on tonight. Literally the complete opposite experience and was miserable. Aim was all over the place almost as if I had aim resistance. Movement just felt weird for some reason. Guns were shooting marshmallows. So many gunfights that I have no idea how I lost. Teammates were suddenly god awful. Like I just don’t get it man.

I’ve been playing COD off and on for damn near 20 years and the one and only thing that I can’t stand and makes me never wanna touch an FPS (besides SBMM which at this point we all know is a cancer to gaming) is INCONSISTENCY. It drives me insane. Especially as someone who is relatively competitive and has always been very good at FPS games. It just makes it seem like I’m being cheated and my game is rigged.

I just can’t do it. Every game is a coin flip to see if my guns are gonna work, if my movement is gonna work, if my spawns are gonna make sense, and if my teammates are gonna have hands. One game of TDM I go 35-7 using an M4 and then the very next game against the exact same people using the exact same gun I suddenly can’t do anything and go 15-13. And yes obviously sometimes you just have a bad game, but I’ve been gaming for 20+ years. I know when I’m having a bad game vs. when my game is just flat out not making any sense. Rant over. Have a good night. Peace.
