PID Tuning Flight Variables
Hi all
Had a question for the PID tuning professionals here. PID tuned my first 3.5 freestyle a few weeks ago using a mixture of Chris Rosser and Oscar Liangs method.
Tune was done on a pristine new build on a calm day using black box heavily as well as motioning motor temp and trilling. Settled on a master multiplier of 1.4 which was the only thing I needed to touch and gave good response curves and flight performance with minimal heating. I felt like I could have pushed it more but stopped there.
Issue I am running into would be things like now flying on unpredictable windy days. Flew today with moderate wind and I noticed a substantial trilling noise and decrease in flight performance (including flight time) which i assume is the wind really pushing the D Gains to over react.
My question is: how does everyone else handle this issue when flying in different environments than the tune was done in? Is it best to just back my tune off by a certain percentage permanently, or re-tune for different environments? Seems like a constant moving target.
Thanks
