thoughts on slime language 3 off my first listen (79-84 overall)

songs i liked off disc 1: gotta love us, grandma baby, black friday, myself, hood of atlanta, øway remix, ysl, crocodile skin, tezzus & diamond*, shawty shawty, we dead, bvlgari, believe that

songs i didnt like off disc 2: none of them

disc 1 started off very slow but i think for the most part it was actually pretty good. disc 2 was a lot better though and i think did a much better job of showing everybody off, even thug had better performances on it than he did on disc 1.

pretty clearly thug is quite committed to the uy scuti style of rapping and im not opposed to it tbh, i enjoyed a lot of tracks off uy scuti but yes, it is definitely worse than his old music. that being said, thug is still one of the greatest artisrs ever so continually improving is understandably difficult.

the new ysl team have really proved themselves with this - ive been following pretty much all of them for a while but these are seriously some of their best performances. the copium ive been huffing is that thug held back to allow diamond*, tezzus. saint, sk8, and iyrus to show off a little more.

the standout songs for me were hood of atlanta, ysl, bvlgari, believe that, say dat, and switch up.

i think øway remix has been getting undue hate (like 2018 off the real me), but that israel bar is kinda crazy

i think thug and mariah are actually a seriously underrated duo. also diamond* has pretty clearly proven himself as someone who could probably reach the same level of ken carson because his performances across the entire album and both discs were incredible.

im a little disappointed we didnt see more from pz’ or yume who both gave standout performances but didnt have that much screentime otherwise.
on the other hand, ive seen people complain about people like lito having more screentime than them which i disagree with bc all them side characters and og ysl dudes had incredible performances too.

im very disappointed in future and travis for really throwing the towel in on eaters. i kinda wish thug hadnt included them considering that tbh and given that track spot to something with pz’ or yume or even mariah

i also think people are seriously judging slime language 3 against every other thug project and especially against the other slime languages which is understandable but comparison is the thief of joy and i think it stops people from actually appreciating the album in its own right.

overall, off the first listen id say it was probably like a 79-84 overall.
