AIO for not going to the gym
We’re a group of three friends me 23F, and my two friends who are dating 21M and 28F. We regularly have pretty busy schedules so we try and work around what we can do to go to the gym together and we always have a blast in the gym. Don’t get me wrong I am notoriously known for being late not by a lot but at least 5ish minutes.
But is it not common courtesy to notify the fellows in the group that when you are going to be late how late you are going to be?
We had set to be at the gym at 9pm said so an hour in advance to make sure we were all good. And then they text in the chat 20 minutes before 9 that they are going to be late. I am already there atp would have been waiting 15-20 minutes. I am okay with waiting but I have work in the morning at 5:45am, I can only wait so long. I text back immediately and await a response that anyone has seen the message for how long they would be. Because I am assuming that they are still at the place they were when they text that they are going to be late, which is an hour away from the gym. So I’m assuming they can’t get there until 9:30pm ish.
Now could I have gone in the gym and just worked out by myself for a bit I’m sure I could have. But I have a bit of anxiety, I much rather enjoy the company of my friends at the gym and have fun, then going in feeling like I have to be serious, if that makes sense? I shouldn’t have to rely on my friends for that to be fair and should learn to get over it, I do occasionally go by myself but I didn’t bring my headphones this time. And like I said I have work early in the morning.
Nobody responds and it’s around 9pm so I call it and just head home it’s already going to be a 30 min drive for me compared to their 15 min drive home. And low and behold for what do I see, a text at 9:05 saying that they are there and atp I’m so annoyed that they couldn’t say anything that I don’t want to go anymore and I’m already enroute home. They’re not upset with me for not wanting to turn around but I am upset with them for what I feel is a common courtesy of notifying someone you will be late and I missed a good gym session.
Not to mention I feel like there is a lot of common miscommunications that happens between our friend group because they are constantly assuming that they have told me things that they have not. I won’t deny that I assume when we are available when we are not available sometimes but if there is no clarity then what are we to do? So AIO or just being annoyed for no reason?
(Also I can bench press 90lbs for a set of 6 reps. We are consistent just not always as consistent as I would like due to the miscommunication)
