My Costco 3-order batch today almost made me question all my life choices ðŸ˜
I don’t care if a batch pays $500, I think today officially broke my spirit. I am typing this from the parking lot while taking a deep breath.
Here is how my little descent into chaos went down today:
The Blind Scavenger Hunt: Instacart gave me zero aisle numbers. Zero location tags. Just vibes and giant boxes hidden somewhere behind a maze of outdoor patio furniture.
The Cardio Workout: Every time I finally made it to the opposite side of the store, ping! Customer A added paper towels (back to the front). Ping! Customer C added organic berries (back to the back). I got my steps in for the month.
The Checkout Tetris Ruined: I spent so much time carefully separating Order A, B, and C with extra boxes in my cart. I stepped up to the register, hit them with a friendly "Hi! This is 3 separate orders," and the cashier and other workers just went into full autopilot. They started grabbing random items out of all three sections and dumping them onto the belt like a game show.
Escalated Chaos: When I gently tried to stop the scramble, the cashier got annoyed and sent me over to a supervisor. Plot twist: the supervisor did the exact same thing! Order C items were getting scanned onto Order A’s receipt with total confidence.
The Parting Gift: As I was wheeling my freshly scrambled cart out the door, I overheard the supervisor complaining to the receipt checker about how annoying Instacart shoppers are. Bestie, you are the one who just merged three people's groceries into one giant mystery box!
Look, if Costco secretly hates doing Instacart orders, they really shouldn't partner with the app! We're just out here trying to get people their bulk snacks.
Anyway, I’m currently sitting out here in the heat re-sorting three massive orders on my bumper so nobody gets someone else's 50-pack of toilet paper.
Send help (or ice cream).
