I’m not watching her, but the similarities in our choices are becoming uncomfortable

TRIGGER WARNING

I’m not watching my partner’s sister or keeping track of what she does. I honestly just find out or see these things on my own.
But lately, I’ve been feeling really uncomfortable because I keep noticing the same pattern.

My partner and I traveled, then my partner’s sister suddenly booked a resort too. We got NMAXs, then she bought an NMAX. We bought a second-hand car, then she bought a lot. We had our house renovated, then she bought a brand-new car. I colored my hair, and eventually I noticed that she colored hers too.

There’s also this one thing that really stuck with me. My partner’s sister once commented that our house looked dark because we use dim or warm lights. She even made comments about how the house felt a certain way because of it. What made me uncomfortable was that later on, I noticed they also started using dim or warm lighting in their own house.

I know these things can happen coincidentally, and I’m not claiming that my partner’s sister is intentionally copying us. I just can’t deny that the repeated similarities are starting to bother me.

What makes it frustrating is that I’m not even looking for these things. I’m just living my life, and somehow I end up seeing or hearing about them.

I don’t want drama with my partner’s family, and I don’t want to confront my partner’s sister over something I can’t prove. I also don’t want to become the kind of person who constantly compares what we have with what other people have.

I just want to be able to enjoy the things we do without feeling uncomfortable when something similar happens afterward.
Maybe none of it is intentional, but after seeing the pattern over and over, it’s hard not to feel bothered by it.

I guess I just needed to get this off my chest.
