Am I being too sensitive for not being crazy about how this plot beat in Buddy was handled? ((SPOILERS WITHIN))

SpoilerDiscussion

***(TW: >!Sexual Assault!<, didn't want to put it in the title because spoilers, but still felt like I should preface)***

Ok, I went into Buddy expecting gore, child endangerment/death, and plenty of fucked up scenarios pertaining to a magical being trapping people somewhere... but I wasnt expecting the scene where >!Buddy gropes Cristin Milioti in the nurse's office!<. And, like... am I just being a wuss for thinking it was kind of sudden and jarring for the tone the movie otherwise set, and liking the movie a little less for it?

Like, it's not the existence of the act itself in the plot I have an issue with, to be clear. This is a horror movie, Buddy is a bad dude, and him doing it is depicted as a creepy and wrong thing to do. And I'm not even necessarily against a scene so relatively tame , if they do want to tackle that topic...

... but that's really my big issue, >!*IS* sex a topic Buddy is interested in tackling? This is quite literally the only time we ever see Buddy demonstrate anything beyond a pretty asexual need to be loved/just not be alone, and one of only two moments of sexuality in the entire movie, and it's never even brought up again. The mom is never shown to be any more afraid of/subservient to Buddy (or, alternatively, any more spiteful or hateful towards him) for it if it's meant to be an exploration of abuse. It's literally just using sex assault as a "kick the dog" moment, purely for shock.!<

For the counter-argument Im expecting (and don't disagree with, at least out of hand)... sure, Buddy is a character who needs to be loved AND be in control, which can be very easily short-handed using >!sexual desire!<, but... Buddy just isn't really characterized that way in any other scene? >!Even when he interacts with Betty Bunny after his mask starts to slip, he never expresses any sexual interest or frustration, he just... basically makes fun of her for being a nag and a suck-up. If the intent was to tie up his domineering loneliness in sex, it's really inconsistent, to the point that the scene in the nurse's office feels like a massive outlier as opposed to a reveal of motivation, especially since it never comes up again.!<

I don't know... it didn't even make me hate the movie, or think that the writers are fundamentally evil, or anything hyperbolic like that (it dropped my personal score from a weak 8 to a middling 7, but that's still a good score!), but... am I making a mountain out of a molehill here for thinking it should have been cut, or did other people walk away feeling similar?
