I have a rounded nut on the passenger side valve cover in my 2016 2.7L F150. Truck has 151,000 miles on it and has been great until a few recent unrelated issues that needed be recently resolved.

Regarding the current issue, I’m replacing the passenger side valve cover for several reasons. I’ve removed all other VC bolts so the rounded nut is the last stud/bolt/nut that is holding the VC onto the engine.

Initially, there were 2 nuts (one in front & one in back), I was able to easily remove the front nut using my impact with an 8mm extractor socket. However, the back stud is in a tight spot against the wiring harness and the turbo charge pipe. And unfortunately, I was impatient and tried to pull the back nut off without the socket being fully seating onto the nut, which rounded it fairly significantly as you can hopefully see in attached photos. An 8mm extractor socket is now too big for the nut and the 6.5mm is too small even when attempted to be hammered on (of course I don’t have a 7mm).

I’ve also made a few attempts using left handed drill bits to go into the stud, and then apply an extractor to remove the entire stud. But this has also not worked.

Not sure what else I can do at this point.

Greatly appreciate any advice at 10pm on a Sunday night lol!!! Happy to take additional photos if attached ones are not clear enough. Thank you!!
