Are COMO Dolomites / Gardena Grodnerhof too similar in location to do a split stay?

As the title suggests - Looking for feedback on whether it makes sense to do a split stay between COMO for 4 nights and Gardena Grodnerhof for 2 nights.

My husband and I are looking to prioritize day hiking. Having a beautiful hotel to come back to in the evenings is obviously the goal. Bonus for an amazing breakfast / good approachable dinner option (would love a place where pre fixe is not our only option).

Does it make sense for me to book somewhere further away like Cortina or elsewhere in the Dolomites?

Forestis is out of my price range for this trip - only the highest tier suites are available.
