AMITAH: I told my roomate that "I am not my boyfriends mom, I just care about him and your attitude is why you've never had a relationship last more than a month"

Advice Needed

Hi! I am a long time sub lurker and podcast listener and need some advice. For some background, I have a roomate Ella (20) who has been talking to a guy a few states away, they are not official but have met in person once. My boyfriend, Ethan (20) and I have been dating very happily for almost 2 years now, and have been long distance for most of our relationship.

A few nights ago Ella and I where having dinner together and she was chatting with her guy and all the sudden said, " Never mind I'm not texting him that."

I asked her "what where you going to tell him?"

she replied "He's going to the bars with his friends tonight, I was going to tell him to be safe, but I am NOT his mother."

I was kind of taken aback because I feel like "be safe" is a very normal thing to say to someone? I said "oh? I always tell Ethan that I love him and to be safe when he goes out, not like in a mom way, more in a ,hey I care about you, way"

She looked at me with and said "You are NOT not his mother and should't say stuff like that to him." I was honestly a little fed up at this point so I said " I am not my boyfriends mom, I just care about him and your attitude is why you've never had a relationship last more than a month".

She looked pretty taken aback because honestly I have only known her a couple of weeks and I am very quiet so I don't think she really expected me to come back at her like that.

But now she has not really spoken to me and keeps turning the temp in the house to 84 when I try to sleep, so idk AMITAH?

(also side note, she has never met my partner before so this is not a "you mother you boyfriend and I don't know how to bring it up so I am going to manufacture a situation to where I am able to tell you that you mother your boyfriend" type situation)
