Starting a sife hustle

I am a control systems engineer and have 3yrs eperience in the automation industry, mainly oil and gas. I am looking to start a side hustle that can maybe turn into my own company but have no idea where to start. I am from Edmonton, Alberta. I am an immigrant resident and I am not really familliar in the ins and outs of businesses in alberta. Looking for some insights and suggestions how to start or where to look.
