Should I break up with my boyfriend or am I overreacting.

For starters, this story is about my sister (18) and her boyfriend (21). she needed some help trying to see if this situation really is worth ending the relationship over or if she should try to talk about it with him.

My sister and her boyfriend have been dating for a year and my sister’s birthday is coming up, for a while now she’s been thinking about getting a tattoo or a piercing, her boyfriend has mentioned before that he doesn’t really like that idea of getting one, but he has always said that it’s her choice and he’d support her.

However, recently today she had mentioned it saying she didn’t really know what she wanted for her birthday but she’d be up to getting a tattoo/piercing, then her boyfriend just responded with “no” she asked why, and again he told her he didn’t like tattoos/piercings so she asked for a more of an explanation, he said he just didn’t like them, she asked how he’d react if she did get one and he said he’d probably break up with her.

Lately she feels like he’s been projecting a lot, saying things like “you don’t love me anymore”, “you hate me” a bunch of other things.

So she asked him if he’d even still love her if she got a piercing/tattoo and he said HE WOULDN’T.

She got to thinking because they’ve been on the topic before of ‘what would it take for you to break up with me’ (something like that) she said he’d probably have to do something REALLY bad, and he said it was the same for him. So now she’s wondering if he’d break up with her just cause of a tattoo or piercing does he even really love her right now anymore.
