Thirteen governments across roughly twenty-five thousand years, and one recurring failure mode. The Outer Rim Journal examines every major galactic government on record, the Republic, the Separatist Confederacy, the Empire, the New Republic, the First Order, and eight more - and asks why so many of them ended the same way.

The answer is not a cycle. It is arithmetic. Concentrated wealth buys legislatures. Frightened legislatures hand power to executives. Executives do not give it back.

This episode maps the galaxy's constitutional history onto the real thing: the Roman Republic's slow erosion through emergency powers, Augustus handing back a republic he had already hollowed out, Weimar's Article Forty-Eight, and the Articles of Confederation's opposite mistake. Canon and Legends material are flagged separately throughout.
