Early adopters of the newly released Google Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL are reporting an annoying bug where bursts of static, popping, or digital crackling noise ruin the audio of recorded videos.

The issue appears to be tied to a software conflict within the Google Camera app processing rather than a hardware failure. Reports indicate the static often triggers in bursts (sometimes exactly every 5 seconds) and is especially prevalent when shooting in 4K at 60fps, or when recording in loud environments, windy outdoor settings, or at concerts.

Primary Triggers:

Video Boost: The bug heavily targets videos processed through the cloud-based Video Boost feature.

Audio Zoom:

The device’s directional microphone feature tries to suppress background noise but conflicts with high-resolution recording modes.

How to Fix the Static Audio Bug (Temporary Workarounds):

Until Google rolls out an official software update patch, users on Reddit and the Google Help Forums have found successful workarounds to stop the static:

1. Turn Off Audio Zoom

Disabling the mic's directional tracking stops the artificial noise suppression from clipping and creating static.

Open the Camera app.

Switch to Video mode.

Tap the Settings (gear) icon in the corner.

Toggle Audio Zoom to Off.

2. Clear the Camera App Cache

Clearing temporary app data fixes underlying background processing glitches.

Long-press the Camera app icon on your home screen.

Tap App Info (the "i" icon).

Go to Storage & Cache.

Tap Clear Cache.

Force close and restart the app.

3. Step Down from 4K 60fps or Turn Off Video Boost

If the issue persists, filming in standard Full HD (1080p) or turning off Video Boost prevents the corrupted cloud audio processing altogether.
