I think I accidentally crossed a line with someone I shouldn't have
I've known my neighbor for a couple of years and we've always had this weird chemistry that neither of us ever acknowledged.
Last weekend we ended up talking alone for hours after everyone else had gone home. Nothing was supposed to happen. We were just laughing, drinking and talking about things we'd never normally tell each other.
At some point the conversation got a little too honest. She looked at me and said, “You know you've been flirting with me for months, right?”
I honestly didn't know what to say.
We both laughed, but neither of us looked away.
The next few minutes felt completely different from everything before them. There was this awkward silence where we both knew exactly what we were thinking, and neither of us wanted to be the first person to admit it.
Eventually I left because I knew that if I stayed another ten minutes, I probably wouldn't.
I've been thinking about it ever since.
Would you have stayed?
