Anyone been on just estrogen after IUI??

Lining was thin so we did estrogen vaginally 2mg BID. He said to continue just this vaginal dose of estrogen until we confirm pregnancy or have a period….? Is this not the weirdest thing ever? Also my progesterone is very negative and it’s usually super positive? I’m thinking it’s from the vaginal estrogen?
