Switch update?

I'm overseas, my friend got me dbd for the switch I'm trying to play a match now with my dad and it won't let us play a game? He's on PC and normally I'm on PC but since I'm away now all of a sudden we are getting a game version mismatch? Is that a switch issue? This game is so frustrating I honestly don't even know why I play anymore lol 😆
