What is your motivation to survive?

I’ve watched the film a couple of times (and felt sick to my stomach a couple of times) and the same question occurred to me both times: if you survived the blast and initial fallout, why on earth would you want to keep living? The world will never be as it was ever again. Would you not just take your own life rather than live in hell on earth?
