Why am I seeing so many posts saying native new Yorkers don't use transit and all own a car?

I keep getting served tweets/Tik toks/YouTubers of people in their cars complaining about the construction on Flatbush avenue, and saying it's transplants trying to force everyone into not driving. I would've thought transplants would be more likely to import car culture from the suburbs, not the other way around?

I for one am pro transit, it's the best part of living here. I'm free from car dependency, it's awesome.
