I'd like to hear thoughts on the R1S vs. Porsche Cayenne Electric
I have a reservation on an R2 (Got my invite to order today.) I drive a model X currently. After the test drive I liked it overall but felt some of the finishes were on the lower end (cup holders/center console, charge port door, etc.).
I since looked into the R1S. I don't need the extra row of seat. What I like about the R1S is the longer range, the nicer finishing, and the increased tow capacity (I have RVd in the past and am considering selling my RV and buying a TT and the R1S gives me more options with that. But towing would be only a few times a year at best is my guess).
I priced out an R1S and then poked around on the Porsche site since the Cayenne Electric has the same towing capacity as the R1S and is a bit smaller. The price difference is pretty negligible between the two.
I've watched a video of a range test between the two and I think the R1S beat out the Cayenne by a bit.
The Porsche is likely nicer on the inside and has more of a dealer/service center network. But the Cayenne, as far as I can tell, has this weird charging setup (CCS) where fast charge port is on one side and home charging port is on another. Overall, I'm guessing a Rivian is closer to what I'm used to with Tesla, but Porsche just seems nicer if I'm going to pay that much (and the slight space I'd save in my garage with the Cayenne over the R1S is a bonus).
Does anyone here have any insight into the two vehicles?
