If LeBron would have been mediocre in Jordan's era, who are you picturing as the comparable prior athlete that shows what his limits would have been in that era?
Ignoring theories of mental toughness, if you think LeBron would have been mediocre in Jordan's era, who are you picturing from that era (or any pre-LeBron era) with comparable height, weight (lean muscle mass weight - like David Robinson - not just weight), speed, athleticism, and mobility?
Malone? Pippen? Magic? In each case, aren't there key qualifiers/caveats you have to add to account for what LeBron has that they don't have in those categories? Pippen probably comes closest... except LeBron outweighed him by 40-60 lbs of lean muscle during his prime.
To me, that's the big thing that folks (including Rodman in his dismissal of LeBron, who LeBron outweighed by 50-70 lbs during his prime) seem to be avoiding: based just on those natural + physical training aspects of LeBron as a player, who did anyone in the NBA face that was like that physically? And that's before you add LeBron's ability to score, rebound, defend, and passing skills.
For the natural + physical training aspects, it is not as hard to find players who were comparable to MJ in height, weight, speed, athleticism, and mobility (e.g. Kobe, Wade, Vince Carter, Anthony Edwards, Kawhi Leonard).
