Ranked Distribution Project - S11

Hello,

Previously I had done this about halfway through the season in S10, showcasing the distribution of the ranks for as many players as we can find using friends along with their RS values and # on the leaderboard in order to roughly estimate the distribution of each rank league in The Finals.

This time, I've done the same thing and compared it to the last time I did this in S10. Unfortunately last season I did not do an end-of-season post of this as I was busy with other projects, however this time I will be doing one halfway through each season, and then one at the end of each season and comparing.

Here is the chart that I have for this season so far, 54 days (roughly halfway) into the season.

There is a huge difference in the distribution so far, you'll see exactly what's changed in the next graph below.

So we can see that Diamond, Plat, and Gold, are all up substantially.

Honestly, I think this is a much better distribution than before, Diamond now seems significantly more achievable than prior seasons and is also being kept longer by most players it seems.

Here is how this is calculated:

I use my friends list, and friends of mine also use their friends lists, to look for players as close as possible to each league's cutoff RS. Ex: (Find a player at Gold 20,000)

This works because each player has a leaderboard placement that isn't shown in the top 10k public leaderboards. We then take each player as the "starting point" for each league and calculate how many players between each player and consider that the amount of players in each league.

The only remaining thing is how many people have played this season thus far? We do this by finding the lowest rated bronze player that we can find, and see what placement they are, we then take this as the base value and calculate the percentages from that number.

So yes, this is all rough estimates, however they are relatively accurate to the number of players in each rank. Along with that, the only remaining thing is that if we have more players below the lowest rated bronze player, they would only increase the bronze percent share, and decrease the rest overall.

Here is the raw numbers for each player we have:

Ruby RS X - #500 (Ruby RS is irrelevant technically)

Diamond RS 40,000 - #5,561 (Public data)

Platinum RS 31,489 - #30,024

Gold RS 20,153 - #112,374

Silver RS 11,437 - #221,855

Bronze RS 2,380 - #297,376

So yes, some players will be missed, and some players between the last 1500 RS of Plat and Silver will be "counted" as the rank below so the true numbers may be ever so slightly higher. However overall this should give a nice picture as to how ranked has changed since last season.
