How did Lalo not realize?

When Kim convinces Lalo that jimmys car was shot by randoms, But I was thinking about it how would Lalo fall for that the car was shot the hell up with AR bullets now I know a regular civilian can get rifles but, If I were Lalo I would only believe that if it was like Glock bullets. I’m not big into gun culture but isn’t it kind of unrealistic? Or maybe because he’s not from America he doesn’t know, But then again it is stated in an interview with Tony dalton that Lalo went to high school in America that’s why his English is so good.
