Hello everyone! I have seen so many great suggestions on this subreddit that I thought I would see if anyone had any ideas! I want my space to look more polished yet still lived in since I have 2 young kids. The things I definitely want to change: the coffee table. It’s a cheap one from IKEA that just can’t withstand the beatings it unfortunately gets lol. Eventually want to move the recliner elsewhere but currently don’t have space for that.
The random rope thing is supposed to be a macrame plant holder that my sister in law made for me but I took out the planter because it was getting messed with.
I’m toying with the idea of a new rug, I really love my rug but the light color is no match for the million spills it gets on the daily. Plus it’s also really small for the space, I switched our bigger rug to the dining room when we got a bigger table.
I also would love to paint the wall a fun funky color to fit with my personality but unsure of what color. About us: I love orange! And yellow! And most all colors and I love funky themes in houses. No millennial grey for me! I also will kill any and all plants so unfortunately that isn’t an option for me 🫤
The family spends a lot of time in this room as it is attached to our dining room and also is adjacent to the kitchen.
Weird thing but accent pillows are also not an option. Other than that I’m open to suggestions!! Thank you all!

New coffee table and rug? Maybe some paint?
