I'm buckled in tight for this season. It could get bumpy.
I feel that the last 2 decades of rating our transfer windows are supposed to be different to this one after winning the league. Now we aren't building to reach the goal, we are supposed to be building on a champion team. The standard set last year should only be improved upon and numbers wise, speed wise, and apparently faith wise, we are now weaker. Being AS strong is manageable and potentially forgiveable because you could say we've been through it and know what it takes but being weaker in attack is mind-boggling heading into a title defense season.
In terms of who has been brought in for cover and like-for-like transfers the quality and experience is there. Being light on the left hand side in terms of natural wingers and light on trust in terms of apparently our backup striker now is very concerning. When the final whistle went last season, if I'd have been told we'd be picking names out a hat for who can cover left wing and that we'd have less of a strike force I'd have laughed in their face. I get we have players who can play in positions on a pitch but our aims this season now don't have space for dropping stinkers or getting injured. A couple of knocks and we may have no natural left sider and may have to play Gyokeres, and who knows when his first minutes may come this season. I hate to think what he plays like when he's NOT match fit.
Its easy to say we've been through it before but we're coming off the back of a championship year. I don't believe that we couldn't add anyone else to the squad just because the attacking players we were linked with for well over £100 million a piece didn't end up with us.
5 hours to go for any surprises
