AITA for asking my tenant to pay more due to his water usage?

I let a friend move into one of my guest rooms at the beginning of last month. Initially I told him $700 per month and utilities included. After he moved in I quickly realized that he does not take normal showers. He literally takes hour long showers every single day and sometimes 2x per day.

I asked him to contribute towards my water bill if he’s going to waste so much water AND cause my electricity bill to go up because the hot water heater is working more.

He got pretty defensive about it but i think it’s a fair request? Sitting in the shower for an hour + every single day isn’t normal usage?
