I stayed at the Clearwater Beach Sheraton Resort on Sand Key for a conference last week. I had several instances of cockroaches in my room, and I called the front desk twice about the issue. I knew the hotel was full due to the conference and wanted to be kind. They offered to send someone to spray the room and I confirmed. No one ever showed the entire time (Sat-Thursday).

I spoke to a receptionist at checkout and she was pleasant-ish but said she already settled the bill. I told her I wasn’t asking for a refund but just acknowledgement would have been nice. She told me it was my job to continue following up with them about spraying and then said “yeah since it rained cockroaches happen.” I’d expect it on the ground floor but I was on the 8th floor. It rained the entire week last year and I didn’t have any issue with roaches. I saw a few people complain about it in past Google reviews from this year. I asked about the potential for points and she said “I’m not sure that really qualifies for points.” The room was a little dirty/dusty for a Marriott, but I guess I was trying to be hospitable and not complain constantly because I knew there weren’t many rooms left.

I just got an email giving me 5k “bonus” points, which feels small…but I’ve also yet to get my actual points from the stay yet, which is frustrating. The stay isn’t showing up in my past stays for Marriott either. Overall, the stay was fine the restaurants in the hotel are nice, friendly staff. I just wish finding bugs like that wasn’t so normalized by staff, if that makes sense.

Should I push harder with corporate or let it go? I’m not a gold or silver elite person so I have no idea how much they value me as a customer even though I spent $1,400 with them including room and food.

Need advice after my stay in Clearwater
