Maybe mastitis?

Hey all!

I’m a FTM to an 18 month old. I’ve never experienced mastitis before so I’m not quite sure if I have it.

I woke up yesterday with a headache, crazy chills, and body aches. Today when I woke up I had all of the same but much worse and now I have significant breast pain. There’s no lump and the only redness is on my nipple. The painful breast is also very warm.

Does this sound like mastitis? And can mastitis be caused by nipple trauma? My daughter bit me really hard a few days ago but I checked and it didn’t look like she broke the skin or anything.

She normally nurses 3-4 times per day but we’ve been traveling and she’s been asking for it more like 6-7 times per day recently. Idk maybe that’s causing some irritation? I figured with the increased nursing it would be more unlikely for it to be mastitis since I shouldn’t have a clogged duct.

I know I could just go to the drs instead of asking Reddit but I didn’t want to waste the money and the visit if it’s nothing or it could go away on its own.
