Wonder Guard broken?

Led Shedinja against Watson, 4 electric types, they all have electric type moves, nobody's got hazards that I can see. Shedinja immediately dies to Voltorb

There's posts on this sub from a month or two ago saying people used it to beat Hoenn, so I'm assuming its meant to work. Am I kissing something or is it just bugged
