My biggest heartbreak
My biggest heartbreak wasn't when my best friend since 4th grade moved away right before high school. It wasn't when my boyfriend of 3 years and I broke up. It wasn't even when my only friend and roommate stopped talking to me for no reason, leaving me to sit in a small dorm room by myself for 4 months, causing me to spiral into a deep state of depression. No, my biggest heartbreak was when I learned that my dad, who always supported, provided. protected, and loved me, was still just a man. That even though he told me I could do anything I wanted to do, he would still interrupt me during dinner. Preferred my brothers' company over mine and valued their suggestions and opinions much more than he did mine.
My biggest heartbreak was learning that it doesn't matter how much a man claims to love you; he will still only see you as a woman who is beneath him and not his equal.
