Arizer solo 3 newb- first time sucked. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks to you lovely folks, I purchased an Arizer solo 3 v2 and it arrived yesterday. I was so pumped to try it out, but I’ve never really smoked flower before outside of some pre-rolls here and there (I am a 510 cart and edible person, and the whole reason I got the DHV was to reduce my dependence on the carts). I went to the dispo and the Weed Man was very helpful and helped me pick out a “premium” flower to start with (was pricey- $60- but I’m in a VHCOL area and I figured I wanted the maiden voyage to be on solid footing so I figured it was worth the investment). And I don’t know much about flower, but to be fair the buds looked pretty full/healthy and not sketchy.

I watched some YouTube videos, loaded my Arizer (got the flower mill that some of you suggested as a grinder, too- that was great and easy). I started with a Session but the hit tasted absolutely gross/unlike any weed I’ve ever had before. I switched to On Demand thinking maybe the session temp was too high, but the couple of hits I took from on demand were absolutely gross too and the weed looked completely kicked after 1-2 attempted pulls. And the smell was god awful- not a typical weed smell, so much so that my husband a few rooms away smelled at and was like “GROSS, is that your new toy?”

What am I doing wrong? Is there some user error that could be producing this nasty ass smell? Is it the specific flower I got? Is it possible the default temp setting is burning my weed prematurely?
