Standard protective courtesies when meeting someone for a sale

My wife has agreed to meet someone about 2 hours away to sell an e-Bike valued at about $2100. I'm joining her, but obviously have some concerns. The buyer wishes to test ride it, of course, which is fine, but we don't know the guy, and I certainly want to avoid him just riding off with it.

Is it normal to ask to hold their keys or driver's license in this situation? Also he wants to pay with Venmo. Any concerns I should have with this? Most of my dealings with Marketplace have been small cash amount/door pickup items.
