PoT Clone - unimpressed. Suggestions?

Question

Got a Harby "Noble Tone" a while back to see what this "of Tone" buzz was all about (aka Prince of Tone copy). By all reports its a well built accurate clone. Impressions are sadly "extremely mid" as the kids say. The 3 way switch is kind of laughable as it seems to do almost nothing, and I see now other people have sad this as well. Was hoping for some of this 'transparent overdrive' kind of stuff but my impression is both "thin" and "muddy" at the same time (which seems contradictory) I also might say "muffled". Have a couple Klones and those are all (even the dirt cheap ChinoKlone) way better for the 'transparent OD' thing for me.

Gear used has been mostly a range of HB loaded guitars, played into a modded vintage Traynor that is in essence very "BF Deluxe Reverb" type of circuit and is a good rig.

What are suggestions to dial it find the magic? Haven't opened it to fiddle the trimpot or the dips but am open to it. Have other guitars to try with it. Its OK when stacked into a Klone but frankly the more you stack the less IME the 'thing you're stacking with' matter, I feel like stacking any ranbo gainbox would be similar effect, its certainly not magic.

PoT fans - whats the secret sauce to dial it up?
