Looking for a Z.ai alternative (subscription, 5hr limits, exposed API key) — privacy concerns are holding me back.

Not gonna lie, I don't really trust China in general. They're clearly an AI powerhouse, but I can't find anything solid on what they actually do with your data. That said... the [Z.ai](http://Z.ai) coding plan is honestly too good a deal to just walk away from. Problem is, if I used it, it'd end up knowing a LOT about me — I'd be running Hermes agent through it, which I think is the perfect fit for it, and I genuinely can't find any real alternative to it.
There's just stuff I'd rather not hand over to a Chinese company, privacy-wise. I used to run OpenRouter but it got pricey fast — the balance drains way quicker than I'd like for how I use it.
So, questions for the hive mind:

• Has anyone actually managed to verify anything real about Z.ai's privacy policy?
• Is there a ZDR (zero data retention) setting that's actually trustworthy, like 100% verified?
• And if the answer is just "don't use Z.ai" — what are the alternatives? Looking for something subscription-based (5hr limits), that hands you an API key you can plug in anywhere, and is as generous as Z.ai on usage.
