Sudden hair loss after 2 years on finasteride, thinking of switching to dutasteride

I’ve been taking oral finasteride 1mg and oral minoxidil 2.5mg daily for about 2 years now. Everything seemed pretty stable, but over the last month my hair has suddenly started falling out like crazy. I can visibly see it getting thinner and it’s becoming harder to style.
I’m thinking of switching from finasteride to dutasteride 0.5mg daily. Has anyone had a similar experience where finasteride stopped working, or maybe never worked that well, but dutasteride made a noticeable difference?
