Migrated Windows VMs will not boot
I'm testing a PVE 9.2 server hoping to replace my ESXi servers, Since I can't justify $15,000.00 a year for less that 10 VMs (not an exaggeration). It's up and running fine and I've had no issues sorting out the basics, connecting to one of my ESXi's, importing VM's, etc. BUT my Windows VM's will not boot. I've tried twice.
The first time I directly imported the vmdk from the WebUI. Started the host and it gave me the "Windows encountered an error and needs to restart." message. And after another reboot it goes into recovery mode, but none of the options would fix it. I did the usual boot fix, disk check, etc, but nothing. Tried to do "Reset this PC" but it refused to run it.
Second attempt I booted the PC on the ESXi, went through the Reset this PC and then shut it down when done. Exported that to OVF, copied and imported. Got the exact same error on boot.
I have to be doing something wrong, but I have yet to search it out and would appreciate any suggestions.
TIA
