How am I meant to beat Sith in Jedi Academy

Howdy everyone, I'm playing through Jedi Academy and at the Cult Sightings - Chandrila mission where I've reached a point I'm just not enjoying myself. Most fights are two or three lightsaber wielders discounting any additional fellas and it makes me realize I just don't get how to fight them. Whenever I swing it feels like there's at least two of them bunched together to block it, the direction doesn't seem to make a difference, and my own blocking seems random in whether it works or I get hit. It feels heavily inconsistent, but considering the praise as the best lightsaber combat in the series I'm sure there has to be *something* I'm doing wrong in my approach to fighting, but when I tried looking into it I just found pvp advice with things like fanning that didn't seem to work at all since enemies just block it. Just really need some advice for the core combat, since cheesing them with certain force abilities doesn't actually help me improve, just gets me further into harder areas while still not knowing what I'm doing
