Just launched my first Shopify store — how did you get your first sale?

Hey everyone, I’ve just launched my first Shopify store, Nifty Nest, selling useful/interesting home and lifestyle products.
I’m completely new to e-commerce and I’m currently struggling to get that first sale. I’ve been posting on TikTok and trying different content, but I’m getting very little traffic so far.
I’d genuinely appreciate advice from people who have been through this:
What actually helped you get your first sale?
How long did it take?
Was it mainly TikTok, Reddit, Facebook, paid ads, etc.?
What mistakes did you make when starting?
Is there anything obvious you think a new store should focus on first?
I’m not looking for people to buy anything — I’m genuinely trying to learn what I’m doing wrong and improve. Any honest advice, criticism or lessons from your own experience would be massively appreciated. 🙏
