Americans. I recently bought two separate packages of boneless skinless chicken thighs (one from Trader Joe’s and one from Costco) that were both rancid when I opened the packages at home (took them straight home from the store). Has this happened to anyone else recently?

They were brought home within 30 minutes, and I even had them in an insulated back with ice packs, so I know it wasn’t a temperature issue on my end. They weren’t in my fridge long, but my fridge is below 40 degrees. I even use 2 separate thermometers to make sure. The expiration date was days off on both, and I opened them the same day I bought them (different days).

They were vacuum sealed. That’s why I didn’t notice a smell when I bought them. I got a refund for both of them. I’m just curious if this happened to others.
